Description
Circa 1916 Pair Antique McKee Tall Glass Etched Cut Flowers Vase Electric LampsThis matching pair of lamps did not start out life as lamps. Originally, both were tall square vases
made
by the Mckee glass company.
A mixture of EAPG and Brilliant, the “Innovation Cut Glass
Line” was launched in 1916. Several variations exist of the Innovation line but they all feature
pressed glass with
a combination of wheel cut flowers. These s
quare 10" tall glass vases date
to that period. At some point in their lives, someone decided to turn them into lamps. So, holes
were drilled in the bottoms of the vases t accommodate the electric wiring. Because of these drilled
holes, they must remain as lamps and can not be returned to intended use as vases. With that being
said, they do make a lovely pair of lamps and the conversion job was well done. I can tell based upon
the filigree or pierced work on the brass as well as the lamp hardware, the conversion seems to
date between the late 1930's to the early 1950's. BTW, the sockets are "3 way" which gives you
variation in brightness when using 3 way bulbs.
Measurements:
the actual glass vases measure 10" tall by 3" square. Height from bottom of brass
base to top of actual socket 16.5". Measurement from bottom to top of shade harp 23".
Condition:
Excellent! They were both completely taken apart, the glass was cleaned (inside and out)
an all metal parts cleaned and polished. Completely reassembled, the electric cords and sockets are all
in perfect working order. The glass is shiny with a crystal clear luster and no chips, cracks or repairs.
Shipping
: This is heavy, thick glass. I will remove the harp extensions to allow shipping in a smaller box.
The harps can easily be replaced because they simply "clip" in place. The box will measure about
20 x 16 x 16.
