Description
Named after a famous New York City hotel, The Waldorf, here comes a footed egg or orange juice tumbler in jadite. The light milk glass swirl comes from the original manufacture of jadite by McKee where not quite all the ingredients were mixed perfectly. (McKee invented jadite by combining unsold green Depression glass with unsold milk glass for an opaque effect) The green contained Thorium Salts and that is why it glows under a black light (see last photo) This machine made two part mold seam is seldom seen but was made by the thousands. However, it was originally used by hotels and when styles changed it was thrown away. It holds 6 ounces and may be seen on page 196 of Sandra McPhee Stout's Complete Book of McKee glass at the bottom of the page. It is signed McK.
